At yesterdays MLB baseball game between the Arizona Diamondbacks and the Colarado Rockies a cameraman was filming the crowd and spotted something funny. This group of sorority girls were going selfie crazy (instead of watching the game) and it caught the TV announcers attention too.
The commentators switched their analysis of the game that was still being played and began analysing the girls behaviour instead, asking curiously “Do you have to make faces when you take selfies?” and offering up some insightful thoughts on the use of mobile phone technology and social interaction in todays selfie culture. They even make up an imaginary conversation between the girls;
“Better angle. Uh, check it. Did that one come out ok?”
“That’s the best one of the 300 pictures I’ve taken of myself today!”
There does seem to be a genuine disbelief from the commentators at the girls use of their phones, as one of them points out:
“Every girl in the picture is locked in to her phone. Every single girl is dialled in. Welcome to parenting in 2015. They are all just completely transfixed by the technology.”
Here’s the full video below:
It seems the Arizona Diamondbacks didn’t mind the attention switch too much though as they got the girls to take a group selfie for all their social media accounts:
